Who's that girl? It's Fran!

I adore make up! Applying it, looking at it, buying it, trying different brands & colours, and watching endless tutorials on YouTube about it!! I am an absolute girl when it comes to the fancy face paint : )

So tonight whilst round Franny's (scoffing scrummy enchiladas and Jerry and Bens) she let me practice my make up applying skills on her lovely soft face. In the style of Jess (Zooey Deschanel) from New Girl. Minus the bangs.

Fran started things off by cleansing her face with Liz Earle's Cleanse and Polish, followed by Liz's moisturiser. My favourite daly products. Start and end the day with Liz and you can't go wrong!
Then I was allowed loose on her face....
Grabbing my Real Techniques buffing brush, I started by putting some

Revlon photo ready perfecting primer

on Frans oil prone parts of her skin; her chin and a bit down her nose. I don't tend to use this all over on my face, just on the oily patches. This way the foundation really sticks to the primer and doesn't vanish into your pours, never to be seen again! I like this primer; it glides on easily and leaves a silky soft finish to the skin.

Then I used

Bourjois healthy mix in no51, light vanilla.

This suited Frans skin perfectly (which is combination btw). I LOVE this foundation. The colour match is spot on, its buildable, the smell is devine (just like a Chanel foundation or moisturiser) and the finish isn't too dewy and not too matte.
Then i just popped some

Rimmel wake me up concealer in ivory

under Frans eyes and on the few blemishes that she had.

Next I filled in her eyebrows with a

Rimmel eyebrow pencil.

She has the most amazing eyebrows!! I have brow envy! Mine are so sparse and blurrrr : (

The next step was the eyes:
Now Zooey/Jess has the most beautiful eyes. Big, blue and round! She doesn't seem to wear a lot of make up around them. I used

Laura Geller, baked imPRESSions eye palette

I used a brow brush and applied the darkest brown shade from the palette across Frans upper and lower eye line and the lightest shade over her eye lids. This palette is also great for filling in eyebrows. Soft, subtile, brown colours complimented her eyes so well. As it does Zooeys blue doe eyes.... Dreamy!

Now Jess normally has a full, false set of lashes on, but I used my new

Clinique High impact mascara in black

and my trusty eyelash curler. It made Frans eyelashes look full and curly wurly. I love it! (I found it quite scary applying mascara on another person! No pokes or screams though, phew!)

Now, time for some pink! Jess always has cute pink cheeks and a matching pink lip.

With that in mind I took my

Soap and Glory, glow all out powder

and using my Real Techniques contour brush, I sweeped it under Frans cheek bones and over her brow bone, just to give some shimmer and definition to the cheek area. FYI, It has a lovely peach tint to it.
Then I swapped that for my Real Techniques stippling brush and applied my

Mac cream blush in something special

to her little cheeks, which then looked lovely and rosey. I do love a cream blush. They sit on the skin so well and look a wee bit more dewy and fresh. Perfect for this particular, cute-as-a-daisy look.

I finished her face with my Real Techniques BIG powder brush and

Mac studio finish powder

I Pressed it into her face to set the make up.
Did i mention how much i like the real techniques brushes? No?! Well, i'm telling you, they're terrific! Next month I'm going to buy the eye brush set. Anywho....

Last but not least, i used a gorgeous dark pink

Bourjois, rouge edition lip stick in 11

I used my real techniques lip brush. This applies the lipstick more thinly and allows you to build the colour up to the boldness you're after. I kept it quite light as Jess doesn't wear it too bright.

And Tah dah! There we have my attempt at a pretty Jess! Just add some thick specs, some bangs, some pretty kitsch dresses, and a hot room mate named Nick : )

Beautiful! Thanks for being my doll Francesca x
